Questions About Online Quran Learning
British Quran Academy is one of the most trusted online Quran academies in the UK, purpose-built for Muslim families in the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. Every class is live and one-to-one — never group — with qualified male or female tutors, many of them Ijazah-certified in Tajweed. Classes run via Zoom or Google Meet, seven days a week, with morning, afternoon, and evening slots. Plans start at £30/month for eight sessions, and every new student receives a free trial class with no payment required. Contact WhatsApp +923249867074 or email britishquranacademy.uk@gmail.com to enrol.
Online Quran classes in the UK typically cost between £25 and £60 per month depending on the number of sessions and the tutor's qualifications. At British Quran Academy, our Weekend Plan is £30/month for 8 one-to-one classes, the 3 Days a Week Plan is £35/month for 12 classes, and the Monday–Friday Plan is £40/month for 20 classes. Every plan includes a qualified tutor, a 30-minute private session, a monthly progress report, and one free rescheduled class. There are no hidden fees, no registration cost, and every new student begins with a completely free trial class.
Yes — online Quran learning is highly effective when it is live, one-to-one, and led by a qualified tutor. In a private virtual class, the tutor hears every letter the student pronounces and corrects Tajweed in real time, exactly as they would in person. Screen-sharing makes it easy to point at each word, and lessons are tailored to the student's pace. At British Quran Academy, students from ages 3 to adults progress through Noorani Qaida, Quran Reading, Tajweed, and Hifz from home, guided by tutors trained specifically for online teaching. Thousands of Muslim families worldwide learn this way successfully.
One-to-one online Quran teaching pairs a single student with a dedicated tutor for a private live video class on Zoom or Google Meet. Sessions at British Quran Academy last 30 minutes and are scheduled to fit the student's timezone. The tutor listens as the student recites, corrects pronunciation and Tajweed instantly, sets homework, and tracks progress in a personal learning plan. Parents can sit in on children's classes at any time. Because there are no group distractions, students typically progress two to three times faster than in a traditional group madrassa setting.
Quran Reading teaches a student to decode and pronounce Arabic words correctly and read the Quran fluently from the Mushaf. Tajweed goes one step further: it is the science of how each Arabic letter should be articulated — the correct point of articulation (makhraj), letter characteristics (sifaat), rules of noon and meem, elongation (madd), and pauses. In short, Quran Reading gives you fluency, while Tajweed gives you the beauty and precision of proper recitation. At British Quran Academy we teach both as separate courses, and most students take Quran Reading first, then move on to Quran with Tajweed.
Most students complete Noorani Qaida in three to six months when they attend regular one-to-one classes. A young child taking two sessions per week typically finishes in about six months, while a motivated adult on the Monday–Friday plan can complete it in as little as eight to twelve weeks. Progress depends on age, prior Arabic exposure, and how much the student practices between classes. At British Quran Academy, tutors follow a structured Qaida syllabus from letters and harakat through to fluent word reading, so every student finishes with a solid foundation to start reading the Quran itself.
Absolutely — adults can begin learning the Quran from complete scratch at any age, and many of our students do exactly that. British Quran Academy has dedicated adult tutors who understand that adult learners want privacy, respect, and steady progress without embarrassment. Adults typically start with Noorani Qaida to learn the Arabic alphabet and pronunciation, then move to Quran Reading, and later Tajweed if desired. One-to-one online classes make this easier than in-person madrassas because you can schedule sessions around work and family. Book a free trial class first to meet a tutor and set your pace.
Yes — when the academy is reputable, online Quran classes are very safe for children. At British Quran Academy every tutor is background-checked and verified before teaching. Classes are always live one-to-one on Zoom or Google Meet, parents are encouraged to sit in or keep the door open, and children never share personal information. We provide the same tutor consistently so families build a trusted relationship, and any concerns can be raised directly with our support team on WhatsApp. Female tutors are available for daughters, and we recommend classes happen in a shared family space at home.
The Hifz programme is a structured plan to memorise the entire Holy Quran with correct Tajweed. At British Quran Academy, students meet a qualified Hifz tutor five days a week for daily memorisation (sabaq), recent revision (sabaq para), and older revision (dor). Full Hifz typically takes three to seven years depending on age, memorisation ability, and daily commitment. Younger children on the Monday–Friday plan usually complete Hifz in around four years. Adults can also enrol at a slower pace. Every Hifz student receives a personalised roadmap, weekly targets, and monthly retention checks with their tutor.
British Quran Academy classes are held on Zoom by default, with Google Meet available on request. Both are free, work on any device — phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop — and support screen-sharing so the tutor can point at each word in the Qaida or Mushaf. You do not need a paid account or any special software; we send a simple joining link before each class. All you need is a stable internet connection, a working camera, and a microphone. If a family prefers a different platform such as Skype or WhatsApp Video, we can usually accommodate that too.
A qualified Quran tutor should have a recognised certificate or Ijazah in Quran recitation, ideally from a verified chain (sanad) of teachers, plus documented teaching experience. Ask about their qualifications, years of online teaching, subjects taught, and whether they can share references. At British Quran Academy every tutor is verified before hiring — we check qualifications, arrange demo classes, confirm English proficiency for Western students, and run a background check. Our tutors are also monitored through student feedback and monthly quality reviews. If you are ever not happy with a tutor, we will replace them at no cost.
Ijazah is a formal certification granting a teacher permission to transmit the Quran to others, awarded by a qualified scholar after the student has recited the entire Quran back to them from memory with correct Tajweed. The Ijazah traces an unbroken chain (sanad) of teachers going back to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It matters because it confirms the tutor has been rigorously tested on both memorisation and Tajweed, and is authorised in the traditional Islamic scholarly tradition. Several of our tutors at British Quran Academy are Ijazah-certified, and you can request one specifically when you book your free trial.
Yes — we have qualified female Quran tutors specifically for daughters, sisters, mothers, and adult women who prefer a female teacher. Many of our female students and their families feel more comfortable, focused, and confident with a female tutor, especially for teenage and adult learners. Female tutors at British Quran Academy teach the same full range of courses: Noorani Qaida, Quran Reading, Tajweed, Hifz, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. When booking your free trial, simply request a female tutor and we will match you with one who fits your child's age, level, and timezone.
Noorani Qaida is the classic beginner's textbook for learning to read Arabic and, by extension, the Holy Quran. It teaches the Arabic alphabet, correct pronunciation of each letter (makhraj), short and long vowels (harakat and madd), tanween, sukoon, shaddah, and simple word-reading — all in a structured, step-by-step way. It is designed for anyone starting from zero: young children as young as three, adults who have never learned Arabic before, and reverts to Islam. Completing Noorani Qaida gives students the foundation to open the Quran and start reading it themselves. At British Quran Academy it is our most popular beginner course.
Starting online Quran classes for your child at British Quran Academy takes about five minutes. First, visit britishquranacademyuk.com/free-trial or message us on WhatsApp at +923249867074.
